As part of the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the genocide, on May 6, 2025, a group of Center staff, teachers, and students visited the Tutsi Genocide Memorial (Nyanza) in the Kicukiro area of Kigali City. According to the explanations given to the group, more than 100,000 victims of the genocide are buried at this site, including more than 3,000 people killed after UNAMIR soldiers refused to protect them and left them in the hands of the perpetrators of the genocide. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to learn about a phase of Rwanda history that led the country to the genocide, followed by the efforts of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) that halted the war, reunited Rwandans, and led the country to security and development.
